Winter is ending and Spring is nearly upon us. Here in south-west Western Australia, this is a magical time. Not much to say today except that if your horses are able to have safe, regular access to natural, fresh water like streams or dams, it's a wonderful thing and you are very blessed. So are your horses.
Horses not only drink water, they interact with it. They love to cool down in water, play in water, keep insects at bay with it, warm up with it, apply useful mud packs by rolling straight after splashing or laying in it...they've even been known to lay down in it whilst crossing it with a human on their backs! And yes they do sometimes swim properly in it, just for fun. Our Darrah does that.
But enough chatter. This afternoon I just stood back, took photos, and enjoyed. A bit like sitting down with a coffee in a shopping centre somewhere, and watching life and all the personalities go by...
